Upstairs

Back in Hurdal after a week “on the road”. I had a great week traveling around, visiting schools, but it’s good to be back. Late evenings and early mornings, so on the way back today we were all really quite and tired. In Kristiansand I went to this shop called Upstairs. They have a lot of different things there; interior, necklaces, candles, cards etc. I bought some posters which I have already hung up in my room with different quotes on them, so now my walls don’t feel so empty anymore :-)

Tonight the few of us who were here played “kortskalle”, a game that I hadn’t played before, but it was really fun and afterwards we watched “Pitch Perfect”.

Back in Norway

It was a long journey from Tashkent because we had a day in Riga. When we landed in Riga it was very early so we had to wait for the shops to open. The 11 hours we had there were well spent: shopping, eating and looking at different buildings and churches. When I landed in Norway I took the train to Vilde’s house and I’m spending the next few days here.

We ate lunch at this small bakery which was really nice. Tonight we’ve played a card game called rummy. So much fun with all of us playing.

Show with Paola

Yesterday we went and watched Paola dance at “Origines”, which is a culture show here in Sucre. It was even more fun to watch because we knew one of the dancers and we also learned more about Bolivian culture and how many different dances there are here.

DSC06905We went there with Kjerstin and Nasaara too. At the end of the show the dancers take people from the audience up on the stage to join them for the last dance. Kjerstin was the person from our table who danced with the dancers :)

Buenos Aires

Back in Sucre and it feels so great to be home again. Flying from Buenos Aires went really well. A little delayed in Buenos Aires, but we had such a long connection in Santa Cruz that it didn’t really matter. We spent four days in Buenos Aires and got to do a lot in such a short time. The best thing we did was the tourist bus in my opinion. We spent half a day riding around the city and we could go off the bus and visit museums or other attraction if we wanted to and then go on later. Our ticket lasted for 24 hours so we had a lot of time to do things. Buenos Aires is such a big city and its hard to get around on your own, and the distances are so great that walking is out of the question to some of the things. With this tourist bus you can see the highlights of Buenos Aires while enjoying the sun.

We also went to visit Santa Tierra which is a huge religious theme park. The staff walked around in clothes from the time when Jesus was born. They had made different statues which told a story from the Bible. It was very nice to walk around there and the statues were really nice. They also have a 20 meters tall Jesus statue which rises every hour. So fun to watch it rise, very slowly, but cool :)

Desktop44The last day we went and visited the cemetery as I wrote in the previous post. So many different tombs there and tombs were all huge. Some of them actually looked like small houses and it almost felt as if you were walking around in a neighborhood. A really strange experience. Definitely worth the trip!

Desktop46Lastly Buenos Aires had a lot of different chains, Starbucks, Subway, McDonalds etc. We had to stop by them once in a while of course. Starbucks was of course the most visited and we had some great meals there :)

Desktop47Tomorrow I’m back at work and I’m really looking forward to seeing the kids again and getting back to a normal day. The last week has been kind of stressful with everything that has happened and its going to be nice to sleep in my own bed again.

We went to the zoo!

Today we went and visited a cemetery. It’s a tourist attraction here in Buenos Aires and it was worth the trip. It’s called the city of the dead and it was such a strange experience. I wasn’t sure if it was cool or just plain creepy. The cemetery wasn’t that large but you could easily get lost. The people that are buried are buried under these small houses. I took pictures which will explain it better. It was a really interesting experience and if you ever travel to Buenos Aires you should visit the place. Thereafter we went to the zoo:) Eirunn had seen a giraffe on our well used map and we decided to check it out. They had a lot of animals there and the entrance fee was low. However watching animals on safari is a lot more fun than in a zoo. But we spent some nice hours there before heading back to our hostel.

A day of beauty

Tonight we’re going to attend a wedding. Andrea and Seir, two new friends of ours are getting married and I’m so excited. We’ve spent the day finding and buying them a present and getting ready. We didn’t have many plans so we had plenty of time to get ready. Because we had so much time I got to play with Hilde’s and Eirunn’s hair and put it up. It turned out really nice. We also had to have a little photo shoot because we were finished with a lot of time to spare.
