The Turkish Rivera

During my summer vacation my family and I are going to spend a week at Antalaya, Turkey, a place that is also commonly known as the Turkish Rivera. The city is known for it’s history, breath taking views and the beaches and ocean. In Antalaya there are many different things that you can do. You can visit Keleici, the old city, where you can see the Yicli MInare, the famous almost 40 meters long fluted minaret and the mosque. The Ottoman clock tower, the Yat Limam harbour, which is surrounded by town walls built during the Roman ear.

You can also spend your days on the beach or in the water parks, theme parks or malls; Aqualand, a huge water park with a lot of different slides, Antalya Aquarium, where they have the worlds largest tunnel aquarium or you could spend a day at the Aktur Lunapark Antalya which is a fairground with various rides.

The temperature is also amazing during the summer months and there are rarely clouds so I think I’ll have an amazing week here!

Thursday Night in Hurdal

Another fellowship night has passed and it has been a great evening. Team Brasil was responsible and we all had to show up with a hat and a mustache. We played a lot of games, ate waffles and had worship.

I’ve been editing photos with Helen tonight and I really liked the “old photo”adjustment, so tonight all my photos are like that.

Creating the mustache.

Playing blitz in the gym.

Creative mustaches.

Hiking to Mistberget

Today we were 11 people who hiked to Mistberget. Here at GUS you can choose between sports, leadership or children and health as a subject which you will learn more about and you’ll go in depth in that subject. I chose sports and today we hiked to Mistberget. We were 11 people and it was a nice trip. It took about an hour to walk up and the view was great.

On the way up.

When we came to the top we could climb up in a tower to get a better view.

Enjoying the view form the top :P

The hikers : )

Linda had prepared a “Goodie Bag” for us, which we enjoyed on the top. Inside we found chocolate: Melkerull og smil!

Uzbekistan

Now I’ve just come home from a week in Uzbekistan with my family. It’s been a great week that went by too quickly. I have had a great time with my family, I got to see more of Uzbekistan and the weather was better than in Norway. This time I got to take the metro. I like taking the metro and I think it’s a great, cheap and fast way to get from point A to point B. We took a dy trip to Chimgon, which is an hour outside of Tashkent. It was a really nice trip. When we got there we took a lift up to one of the mountains. Honestly, I didn’t think this lift looked very safe, but we got back down safe and sound.

Chimgon Mountain

It took about 20 minutes to get to the top. When we got off the lift we walked for another 30 minutes to get to the top of the mountain. From there we could see the lake which we visited later.

The view from the top.

Bazar

We went to a couple of different bazar’s when we were there. At the smaller bazars they sell fruits and vegetables, flowers, bread. However, they have some big ones where they have clothes, fabric, yarn and other things.

Family
When we were there we went out to eat a couple of times. The food in Uzbekistan is really good, I especially like the bread and the kebab’s that they have there. We went twice to a restaurant called “Ameretto”, where they have great variety of good.

This brownie was really good!

Now I’m back at GUS, but in 18 days I’m off to Bolivia. Time passes so quickly.

On My Way to Uzbekistan

Sitting at Gardemoen airport and I’m eating breakfast. Left Hurdal at 9 and check in and everything went great. Had a suitcase and a bag with me so it was nice to get rid of it at check in. For the first time I’m traveling with a backpack as hand luggage instead of a little suitcase and I must say that it’s very convenient.

My suitcase is filled with Norwegian things, such as Toro soup, toro taco spices, pepperoni, vestlandslefser, brun ost, prim, leverpostein and more. I was just at the tax free and bought some Norwegian milk chocolate (the best chocolate you can get : ) ) and some other things. My first plane to Moscow leaves in half an hour and then I have to wait in Moscow for 5 hours before my next plane to Tashkent!

For the first time in my life I think that I’ll have a lot of space in my suitcase on my way back, seeing as my stuff only weighted 10 kg.

Fellowship Evening

Every Thursday one of the teams organizes a fellowship evening where we do different activities. Today it was team Cambodia who were in charge. They had organized a picture hunt, meaning that we got a list of things that we had to take picture of. Here are some of our pictures.

And then it went wrong….

In two days I’m going to Uzbekistan to see my family! It’s going to be so nice : )

A Secret Friend

On Monday we, the people at house 6, decided to have a secret friend. A secret friend is one that you are going to be especially nice to, give him/her compliments or other things. Today I found this in my mailbox.

My secret friend is really nice :)

Tonight we had a fellowship evening here at the Outreach Center. Each house had to preform one song, among the songs that were performed were, Spice Girls Wannabe, Man in the Mirror, Every Step You Take and Twist and Shout. Every team had dressed up and it was a great evening. Afterwards we had some worship. We watched this video a couple of days ago and I thought the movie was so great so I want to share it with you guys.

Norwegian Lessons

Yesterday I had a Norwegian lesson with Bruna and it was a lot of fun. She learned basic phrases such as “my name is”, “I’m from…”, numbers etc.

This morning when I came down to the hallway this is what I saw.

Someone had tied all the shoelaces together with each other. It’s going to be a little difficult untying them all : )

I just started reading the book “The Help” and so far it’s great. If you haven’t read it I strongly recommend it. I’ve also heard that the movie is good.

A perfect way to spend a Sunday

We were 8 girls that wanted to hike up on a small hill. It was a really nice trip and good exercise too.
On our way down we saw this boot stuck in the mud :)
